okay so i really like to listen to music esp. when i’m studying and there’s probably a whole bunch of people who are the same so here are good tunes for studying!

8tracks

L I M I T L E S S - this one is full of really upbeat and kickass songs and it’s great to get into a motivational mood like yeah!!! studying!!! gonna do great!!!

GAME OVER - this one is basically all different tracks from video games and you know how listening to game soundtracks helps you focus? this does the same thing! mainly orchestral pieces.

recovery - this is another video game playlist but a lot of it is more mellow chiptune 8bit music. it’s really short though.

calm down - another 8bit calming playlist! i really really like this one and i’ve fallen asleep to it a couple times before. like recovery it’s quite short (~30min).

comes and goes (in waves) - an indie chill sleep playlist, but i think it’d be great for studying late at night (just make sure not to fall asleep at your desk!)

lioness - back to the full orchestral movie vibe playlists! i never tire of this one though, it’s a good mix of mellow and full-on tracks.

burial at sea - this is actually a bioshock playlist but it’s really mellow and has a strong 60s jazz vibe if you want something other than the same 3 movie and video game tracks in every study playlist.

additional tags: +study, +focus, +soundtrack

spotify

chill: gentle acoustic, your favourite coffeehouse, evening chill

focus: intense studying, brain food, hit the books, cinematic chill-out

other: a sudden rainstorm, white noise, nature noise

original soundtracks (these are on youtube unless otherwise specified!)

undertale - okay is this any surprise though. if you’ve played the game then this is a no brainer (try to get through last goodbye without crying again i dare you) but if you haven’t it’s still a great ost! (length: 2h10m)

cowboy bebop - this anime is classic and so is the ost tbh. watanabe’s work is known for being juxtaposing in the music department but bebop is a diamond in the rough for study music, especially if you like jazz. this has all of the music from the series + the movie + some extras i think? (length: 6h12m) (VIDEO NOT AVAILABLE IN THE U.S.)

nagi no asukara [ost 1] [ost 2] - this anime is my fav ever and the ost is amazing as well!! the first half is quite cheery w/ a lot of acoustic guitar and v nice but the second half gets more sombre and uses a lot more piano (also you should probably watch nagi no asukara). (length: 1h17m and 1h11m)

journey - okay another no brainer but austin wintory definitely created a masterpiece for studying with this ost honestly (length: 58m)

kill la kill - did u think we were gonna get through this list without hiroyuki sawano showing up once have u MET ME. nah but i have this soundtrack on my phone and it’s really epic and a good motivator. (length: 48m)

durarara!! - i still haven’t finished this but drrr’s ost is really good! it’s quite eccentric so i’m not sure what genre to file it under than perhaps noir jazz? idk it’s good tho (length: ~1h)

the matrix - i have the cd for this ost and i love it tbh. it really fits the vibe of the film with its orchestral/electronic cyberpunk-y mix. (length: ??) +bonus track (not featured in the playlist for some reason but it’s legit the best track)

zankyou no terror - i haven’t watched this but i’ve heard stellar things about the ost. it’s done by yoko kanno who also did the cowboy bebop ost. (length: 1h09m)

shigatsu wa kimi no uso [ost 1] [ost 2] - its a music anime, ofc the soundtrack is gonna be stellar. like with znt, i haven’t seen this show but the ost has been widely recommended to me. (length: 1h14m and 1h12m)

other

west side story medley - a medley of a bunch of the most recognizable songs from west side story, basically as good as listening to the original ost.

the creature step mix - 20 minute long dubstep mix based off a group of gaming youtubers circa ‘12. still love this and really catchy.

exogenesis symphony - literally the best thing muse and matthew bellamy have ever released. this is the song you listen to when you’re lying on your bedroom floor with your eyes closed.

world of rave - a weekly live show where a really famous DJ does mini sets with songs mostly from the late 80s/early 90s. there’s nearly 150 episodes so you won’t run out quickly (#108 is my personal fave!)

bbc radio 1 nero essential mix 2010 - another dubstep/rave type long mix! this also features the exogenesis symphony so its no surprise why i love it.

my sad playlist - does exactly what it says on the tin. most of these songs are from anime/in japanese but it’s v mellow and nice (also sorry abt the clannad and 5cm/second woops).

i hope this was helpful!! feel free to message me if you wanna talk music or want some more recs <3 xx
